March 1

Rabbit, rabbit! I chuckle when I type those words. I’m not superstitious at all; but long ago, I heard that speaking those words on the first day of the month brings good luck. Although I’m not in the habit of doing so, the idea does occur to me from time to time — like today; so just for fun, “Rabbit, rabbit!," said I when flipping the calendar this morning.

I couldn’t resist the urge to meander outdoors after taking Gracie to the groomer. Chalky purple raspberry canes with buds swelling, spicebushes sprouting tender green leaves, and many more spring things stood out. This fuzzy bud on a Cleveland pear struck me with its gentle pink. I had to grab hold of it to combat the cold, whipping wind; and I got lucky — the sun came out from behind a cloud at just the right time! Then it hit me. Rabbit, rabbit indeed.
I love the thought behind "Rabbit, Rabbit" - done! I was checking buds this afternoon and we're quite behind you. That last freeze sure knocked us back a bunch. Can't wait to see these little pink tips.

Spring in indeed on it's way and there's nothing wrong with a little good luck. :)

It's pinch punch, first of the month over here. And what a delightful month March is with all the promise of spring, new beginnings, fresh revelations. You found a great way to illustrate this - those buds are delightful and the nobbly twigs so interesting and characterful. (but they do remind me of twiglets!).
