Only a portion of the lake trail cuts through the woods. The rest shares the shore with cattails, a boat and kayak launch, a fishing platform, a boathouse, and just a sprinkling of trees. Bursting with bright lipstick-like color, these trees on the open stretch kissed winter goodbye to welcome spring. They're all gussied up and ready to get the party started!
It felt good to get out and embrace this beautiful season in which each day delivers more joy than the last. The next time I walk the trail, leaves will have replaced these bright bursts.
So come to the pond,
or the river of your imagination,
or the harbor of your longing
and put your lips to the world.
And live
your life.

I love the idea of the fresh shoots being like lipstick, kissing the winter goodbye so to speak. I like the simplicity of this - it is cautiously cheerful.
