Walking and Talking by janetb

Walking and Talking

We came across this dainty white flower down low where all three trails converge. Walking and talking occupied most of our attention, so I'm delightfully surprised we saw it.

I wrapped my aching hands around the D850 hanging around my neck and began to focus, noticing once again my inability to hold the heavy camera steady even with my lightest lens — the 50mm f1.4. Not wanting to sacrifice the dreamy background by changing my f-stop, I raised the ISO to enable a faster shutter speed while a slight breeze further challenged my efforts. Even coupled with my recent switch to shooting in AF-C and Burst Mode to combat my weak grip, the higher ISO and resulting faster shutter speed wasn't getting the job done to my liking. I'm keeping this one anyway. Beautiful light brings about a sense of the Lord's bountiful goodness, and I'll focus on that all day long!

A discussion about what to do with the expensive new-ish camera that I can barely hold monopolized the conversation on the way back. Seems like it's time to put the tripod to use more often, but its weight brings its own brand of challenges. Nevertheless, I'm excited beyond measure about the 8-week course I signed up for in an effort to develop my photographic style and elevate my editing skills. Where's the Tylenol? :)

My deep belief is that beauty has a story to tell. One that was meant by God to speak to us of His character and reality, meant to grip our failing hands with hope.

I love this photo, as always so gorgeous! I must admit that I struggle with the weight of my camera at times, mainly due to the arthritis in my joints. Hubby has wanted me to get a mirrorless camera for ages, but I have always chosen not too, and have stuck with my trusty Nikon D7500, which is still lighter than your camera. Recently Hubby purchased a mirrorless Canon EOS 50 Mark II camera to use for his videoing and the weight difference is incredible. it definitely has me thinking about a Nikon Mirrorless Camera in my future. I hope that you enjoy the course that you are taking and I look forward to seeing what you produce :)

Thank you so much for your comment! It’s really great that you’ll be able to see a mirrorless camera in action when your husband uses his. That should make your decision about whether or not to get one easier. I never imagined that my Nikon D850’s weight would affect my hands the way it does. Good luck with your decision! Thanks so much for your well wishes with the course. I am hoping to learn a lot and grow with my photography.
