Spicebush

I discovered two things while helping Mike create some new trails in the woods today: a Spicebush and a Spicebush Swallowtail Caterpillar! I watched as the beautiful caterpillar turned and traveled along a few stems until it entered a rolled up leaf. It'll shelter there until emerging to feed in the evening.

Aren't these caterpillars awesome! I've only been able to photograph one cool caterpillar in the 8½ years I've been doing this project, but it wasn't as cool as this one! Great shot!
