Peace by janetb

Peace

After hours of work and with the stepstool and cleaning products all put away, I thought hard about what to photograph in the sunroom — the site of countless gatherings of family, friends, and pets both day and night and yet the site of soothing solitary moments, too.

Here, my treasured library of nature books resides behind wavy glass and nature journals nestle neatly in a drawer below — beloved journals recording years upon years of my observations of the natural world. Often, the soothing sound of water flowing freely over the fountain's rocks mingles with soft, silky classical melodies as the little candle flame dances. Today, tiny pots of seeds-just-sprouted sit beneath the south-facing windows, headed eventually to the kitchen garden. In this room, with its unique ability to welcome a crowd yet, at the same time, breathe peace, I attempted to photograph not a special thing but, rather, a special feeling. Now with that said, a spot there on the loveseat, a cup of hot tea, a beautiful woodland view, and a bit of Pachelbel await.

I praise you, Lord, for the peace our sunroom provides.

Only three more rooms to do as I make my way through our home doing spring cleaning! I find my goal of photographing something special in each room that I clean to be a real challenge. While tempted to buy a wider lens, I know that it would not get much use once this particular idea comes to an end and I go back to my favorite nifty fifty. I have, however, enjoyed the push to think outside of my composition comfort zone while doing this challenge.

Such a gorgeous photo and again beautiful words. I have to say that you may feel like you have been pushed outside your composition comfort zone with this challenge, but it does not show. Your photos portray what appears to be a natural talent for capturing beauty, memories and moments of joy. It is all inspiring.
