@orangecrush@kcman5@genesis_one@bristolrose@amandakay129@katkleenjean - thanks so much! I am thrilled the flicker is back - I haven't seen any here in a few years - there just seems to be one but hopefully he will tell his friends. He seems to go only for the suet and not the other feeders.
@blincodave - Thanks Dave - you have a new follower too! I am from Cornwall - live on West Coast of USA. I miss so many of the pretty British birds and wildlife. We do have some colorful ones here. Have multiple feeders and try to photograph them as much as possible. Spring is when we get the finches and siskins - sometimes tanagers - they are so colorful.
@janturnbull - thanks Janet - I am a Janet too - but go by Jan. :-) He is a member of the woodpecker family - it's a good sized bird - he is about 12" long.
@jankoos You swapped my favourite part of the UK fo my favourite part of the US. I would think bird diversity must be much greater in West of the US. I have recently purchased aigma 150-500 specifically for bird photos but the weather has been too poor. I'm sure you remember that! Thanks for the follow although for some reason it hasn't shown up on my list yet.
@jankoos It is just the metal part at the top of the chimney that they like to drill. The funny part is we have a forest full of trees across the street :)
@sassyanna - that's interesting. I wonder if it's the noise. Unlikely there are ants up there - LOL. When we lived at our last house we had a woodpecker that would land on the tv antenna and peck away at that.
