I found the placement of this statue interesting in contrast with the marina and boats. It's quite lovely, but the contrast is unusual. I wanted to angle the pic so there were no masts in the background but the light was working against me. I cropped out clutter to the right, and was going to delete altogether but decided at the last minute I kinda liked the mast/statue contrast.
I agree with Ana & Corrie, you composed this very well. I like the statue to the right. The masts frame her in a way. The last diagonal leads our eyes to her. Love the statue, too.
@genesis_one@pflaume - Thank you both - I knew I had to move her from the middle and agree that being on the right side was better. Funny how we can dislike a capture and then fix it and do a 360 and like it. Thanks for the feedback.
@mamamia - Thanks Joanne. @paul2782 - Thanks Paul - I am glad you like the composition. :-) I struggled with it. @maggiemae - I think you are right, Maggiemae - maybe that is why it seems out of place with the marina as a backdrop.
I think it works well. I wonder if it the sculpture was placed at the waterfront to acknowledge all the family that waited while sailors and fishermen were at sea? It also brings to mind the carved figureheads on boats, although they were rather scandalously-dressed ladies, not pregnant ladies--but one thing does lead to another...
@anwan - I am not sure - there is a lot of alternative artwork in Olympia and there were a series of statues along the waterfront - not seeming to pertain to the water theme - I am glad you like it. :-)
