the swallows are nesting again in on of our stables. I know that the eggs have hatched because I saw a very tiny baby looking over the edge of the nest yesterday and there is a broken egg shell caught in a cobweb below it.
I was worried that it might be too late in the year for them to fledge in time to set off for their winter migration to South Africa and so did a bit of research on the internet.
They should be OK because fledging takes 20-22 days and swallows usually leave the UK in October although these days it is getting later and later (apparently!)
Gorgeous shot... and found the write up on the swallows very interesting. Don't know if its just me but there seems to mega amounts of them around this year... (not surprising I guess if they breed that fast.. lol) ♥
