oy!! gerroff!!!

I was hoping to get a shot of the long tailed tits that keep mobbing the bird 'feeding station' that I got for Christmas. Unfortunately it was a bit dark and this was all I got - a bloomin' starling. I don't know why they annoy me so much, but they do.

three good things:

really successful start back to school for both of the boys, both got up (at 6.30) in great humour and came home having had good days

the dawn chorus this morning - deafening!

still thinking about "The Life of Pi" that I saw last night - fantastic!
Amazing cature!

I love starlings! I agree they are quite aggressive but they are also funny and have an amazing variety of strange noises in their repertoire! I also love their plumage! So I am particularly pleased with your shot!

Glad to hear I am not the only one Mark. I was beginning to worry that I might have an evil streak! They are such bullies aren't they? @markyl

When I was young starlings were a real pest and were around in massive numbers, in Norfolk anyway. Then they seemed to completely disappear and I've only just started noticing them around again. I have to say it's great to see them as I love their jaunty plumage and their amazing murmurations, and I missed them when they weren't around!

Terrific shot.....nice detail and DOF. I call them "Darling Starlings" because I have rehabbed sooo many of them, and they are just too hilarious. Most of my fellow rehabbers will not accept them because they are not a native species (they, like you, come from "across the pond." :))) I think that's just stupid and obstinate. However, they are now considered an invasive species, and WE probably have more than you do!!! Have to admit, in many ways, they are a huge nuisance, especially to farmers. But I still love 'em. My, you feed your birds very well! Hope that your New Year is off to a promising start, Les
