snow completely gone today, now we have chronic mud. The donks came out and showed their appoval by queueing up for a good old roll in the muddiest patch of the field.
I shared their elation because the taps and hosepipe in the field are defrosted and look like staying that way for the next week at least - hoooraaay!!
After his roll Angus Donk (so named to distinguish him from Angus Adolescent who coincidentally shares the same name) went and stood by Cashew the pygmy goat soaking up a few rays and doing a bit of mutual snuggling. They stood there for about ten minutes with Angus nuzzling into Cashew while Cashew nibbled bits of something or other (could be anything) out of Angus' fur. In this shot they are on quite a steep slope and Cashew is standing on an upturned bath. Looking at it now I think I should have straightened the shot when I edited. Oh well, you live and learn.
Not sure if I have posted this link before, but when the goats were smaller they used to jump on the donkeys' backs
Very humourous picture. I can totally relate to the problems of caring for animals when taps and hosepipes are frozen. Thankfully ours have also defrosted today and look like staying that way for the next few days at least.
This is the sweetest thing I've seen in a long time. I love it when animals of different species bond.
That video is hysterical! Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. The donk was obviously a willing participant, which astounds me. I would think the goat hooves must have been VERY uncomfortable on his back.
Such a relief that the hoses are now defrosted.. really hard work looking after animals when everything is frozen up... this shot is just adorable Jan and as for the video well its priceless... so very funny... so had me in stitches... thank you for sharing the link... really was a pleasure to watch... Fav ♥
Really cute, I watch the video and I really laugh! This summer we are going to have 2 goats and one donkey, I hope we're going to see these kind of thing!
That's great! You will have to be careful with putting them together at first to make sure that the donkey doesn't attack the goats. Ours got a couple of kicks until they got used to each other. Look forward to seeing your photos
