on the go early this morning simmering oranges, scooping out the flesh and pith and cutting up the skin into shreds for the marmalade I am making - such a time consuming process, not helped by the fact that I always try to do too much at once. I finally lost the will to live at about 3pm and decided to leave early to pick the kids up from their buses and take a detour to take some photos of these sheep which I noticed recently. They weren't particularly helpful and didn't come too near and the light was very low because it had clouded over, so most of the shots were pretty poor and blurry.
Not a particularly testing breed for Monica and Alison to test out their identification skills on.
Choir started again tonight and our choir master has decided to take a much more relaxed approach whereby we all sing in unison most of the time, In honour of the start of the six nations tournament we sang the national songs of each nation, with very mixed results. The welsh national anthem seemed to be the most successful so long as you didn't listen to our pronunciation of the words. Choir was followed by a quick visit to the pub to wish our friend Mark a happy birthday.
Had someone round (again!) today to try to solve the ongoing saga of the damp patch which keeps appearing in our dining room, which is something to do with the shower in our bedroom. This has been going on for five years and I was convinced that this time it was going to end up with the shower tray having to be taken out, but instead a small hole has been made in the dining room ceiling and the source of the leak located - hopefully that will be it now, the dining room wall has already had to be re-plastered and painted several times.
If I don't finish the bloody marmalade tomorrow it is going in the bin
What lovely looking sheep... and his woolly dreads look quite windswept !
You must have endless amounts of energy to pack all the things you do in a day.... phew!!
Hope you have finally sorted out the damp patch!! ♥
@fannyb reckon you've got the right idea Fanny. I am doing 20lbs. Give some of it away and it usually lasts a couple of years. I know I have gone on a bit about it. I know, that sheep's hairdo is great isn't it? There was a price to pay for fashion tho, it had to keep tossing its head back while it was grazing because it kept on nearly eating its dreadlocks
Dont mentions the "M" word. Mine is all ruined. Wouldnt set for some reason and now it is just syruppy. We shall just have to pour it onto the toast. In future I shall buy the tin of pulp and add a few of my own oranges to it! Sheep are always so inquisitive. Like this shaggy one, she is lovely. You must tag her "Sheep with attitude". Alison Tomlin has a tag going
I am not joking Lucy, I am still boiling mine as I type. Myfeet are killing me it has taken all day. If it doesn't set it is going through a window! You must be so fed up. A FB friend of mine said she made Seville orange gin, reckon there could be a good cocktail potential in unset marmalade...... hmmmm, some experimenting awaits I think.. @streetlyend
Thought about the tag, did a few recently, but didn't think this sheep had the necessary 'attitude' it looks a bit embarrassed to me.
Yep I reckon it got a cool attitude this one. Never seen one like it before. Was @meisen325 correct with the breed? Maybe we should start a sheep with fringes tag??
@fueast Or the Cotswolds, or Leicester and a few others. Haha...I'm eating cheese right now. Should be saving it for the Super Bowl party I'm having this afternoon.
@fueast@meisen325 Without a sheep identification book (yet!) I had assumed that this was a Cotswold because that is the local breed, but annoyingly ;0) I now think that Monica is right, it is a Wensleydale. There are about a dozen, in a field near here, and they share their field with four or five black ones (Black Wensleydales?) It is interesting (and a little alarming!) that every time I have driven past them the two different colours are always separate. Enjoy your party Monica! My boys both love American football, but it s too late for them (tho I suspect the oldest will watch it without me 'knowing.'
Great shot. To me it looks like a teenager going through the whole awkward trying-to-be-cool stage, and they just end up looking goofy, only you can't tell them because then they'd feel even more awkward.
Yeah, Sheepy, you're cool. ;-)
