Kids back at school today. Another grey and cold one, even more dismal than other recent ones. Just a bit of brightness would be so welcome at the moment.
It is Graham's birthday, so I made a pretty successful chocolate cake and we had a Chinese take away. Sam had bought him 'Skyfall' for his birthday and we all sat down to watch it after we had eaten. Unfortunately the disc was faulty, which was a bit of a bummer, so we had to watch the penguin programme instead. Far preferable from my point of view, but Sam was very disappointed and so was Graham.
I have been checking my e mails frequently today because I am waiting to hear back from the wireless broadband company that I contact last week. They are going to let me know if we are in their coverage area. Thought I would hear back before now, so it doesn't bode particularly well.
Three good things:
First vase of daffodils of the year. Shop bought unfortunately, but the sight of them brings hope that spring isn't too far away.
Penguins
We don't live in Syria - heartbreaking reports on the news tonight.
I love your piggy shots. It is very sad about Syria and i don't think we always appreciate what we have in life but seeing the news tonight certainly puts things in perspective
Looks a bit brighter with you in this shot. Lovely capture of a fun looking piggy. I can't watch the penguin programme - tried last week and a mother emperor lost her penguin in a crowd crush. I was dead and she made an awful noise and tried to push it back between her feet. It still haunts me now.
@streetlyend No, it was dull, dull, dull here today Lucy. It's amazing the difference messing about with the white balance makes. The fact that the pigs and our soil are naturally very orange helps too!
@fueast He's a she Alison, and is shortly going to be going off for a sleep-over with a boar. We wont ever get rid of these two. Sadly I don't think the same can be said of their babies - my husband's choice, not mine. I am thinking of trying to get some kind of Greenham Common-like protest/camp set up when the time comes for the babies to go. Got lots of volunteers to join me already! I am secretly hoping that they are infertile.
A smashing fella -- I'm sure he would like a scratch behind his ear ! (I assume it is a he !!!) His beady eyes seem to stare at you I hope you meant that HE was waiting for his lunch !!!!
No it is an Oxford Sandy and Black, an old breed that has nearly become extinct in recent years, we have two females and they are soon going to be going off for a 'sleepover' with a boar, so hopefully we will have lots of little baby ones a bit later in the year. Kune Kunes are quite a bit smaller and have dangly bits under their chins (and they don't make such good eating, which is why I would rather have had them, but sadly my husband has other ideas!) @steampowered
@ejlockett Adam! very random. When ours have their babies, if any of the boys are registerable as pedigrees and go off to be sires, then I will call it Adam in your honour.
@jantan They're having babies?? Adorable! Lots of pictures please! :) haha. I always think it's funny to see an animal with a really human name. My friend has a dog called Phillip and recently lost one called Dave! Adam the pig, he sounds like a winner! :)
@ejlockett We have a Dave the Dog living in our village, and I used to know a cat called Colin. Hopefully the piggies will have babies in the summer, they are going off for a sleepover with a boy pig in the next few weeks.
