It's quite cold at the moment. One good thing about this is that if you do happen to spot a butterfly it is unlikely to be doing much, which makes getting close to take a photograph much easier. I am feeling a bit annoyed with myself because I don't know what kind of butterfly this is and I didn't see it with its wings open. It was hailing quite heavily when I took this.
Graham got back from his trip to China last night. He loved both Shanghai and Beijing and wants to go back. He presented the boys with a box of what he thought was chocolates that he bought at the airport. They turned out to be a local delicacy made of chestnuts, bean curd and sugar and were wholeheartedly rejected. Still, the thought was there.
We had to get hay and straw this morning so my back is killing me this evening from carrying bales up the slope to the hay store. I am still worried about the goat's eye. In some ways it is looking worse than ever in spite of the injection over a week ago and we have moved on to cream but with no obvious effects so I will have to call the vet again tomorrow.
It hasn't been the best of weekends with Sam - definite hints of his imminent teenagehood. Actually, the word 'hints' doesn't really do the situation justice.
Lovely photo and FYI the teen years eventually come to an end. Surprisingly, most kids turn out just fine. I found the years between 12-17 with my daughter very trying in so many ways. She's 30 this year and somehow has turned into a totally lovely person. So take heart. This, too, shall pass ...
I hope Graham plans to take you next time Jan!!! Poor butterfly not fit for them out!! Poor goat too no better & poor you a sore back...i know that feeling but don't do that any more!!!
This is super Jan. love the yellow and cream tones and the detail on both flower and butterfly. Poor goat, I hope it can be treated non operative lay. Keep us posted
sucha beautiful capture, all the colours work so well together, my son is 22 and thankfully never had these teenage troubles, but they all turn out fine.
Correction - loads of detail. And beautiful subtle colour co-ordination. Nigel once arrived triumphantly from Tokyo airport with expensive decorative fans in lovely presentation boxes for the kids. Disappointment insued (mostly on his part) when they turned out to be wooden stands for fans. We never did get the fans because they were even more expensive. He didn't like Shanghai ('you buy watch?') so I'm not going to get to go there but he hasn't ruled out Beijing.
