hmm, a day of mixed successes yesterday. I finally got round to fencing off part of the donks' field so that they can be out but without access to too much of the long grass. Despite only allowing them restricted amounts of grazing time I have really noticed a difference in their weight over the past couple of weeks, so this should stop them from getting any fatter.
Fortunately the goats haven't done any damage to the fence while it has been switched off, but I still need to strim underneath it so it doesn't earth, and before the donks realise that it isn't actually switched on yet! While I was sorting the fence out, which took me about an hour and a half, they were watching me from the yard, clearly thinking that they were going to be let at at any moment. Their patience levels wore thinner and thinner as time went on, with them first starting to jostle and bicker with each other, and climaxing with a trio of furious 'eeyoring' (Joey Boy never eeyores, and on the odd occasion he makes an attempt to he sounds like broken bagpipes.) It was deafening.
Yesterday evening I got ready to go with a couple of friends to a local college to see their end of year art and fashion shows, only to discover after waiting outside for my lift for ten minutes, that I had got the wrong night - it is tonight that it is on. Useless!
So, instead of the art show, I watched the final episode of 'The Fall' which I had recorded. I have to say that it left me feeling a bit flat. In spite of feeling increasingly irritated by Gillian Anderson's character and all her mumbling, slack-lippedness, I have thought it an excellent series, but the ending did disappoint me a bit with the way it just petered out. I also watched The Apprentice and yet again asked myself 'why do I waste my life watching these a*****les?'
I think I might need to start doing the 'three good things' again, because the long-term weather forecast, with the jet stream being below the UK just like it was last summer is in danger of bringing me down man...........
Really great image. Stunning ad agree the weather has taken a turn to the wrong side of good. Lets hope or better although the forecast looks no better. On the upside I can have another go with the new extension tubes to see what happens. Keep smiling and clicking.
Beautiful beautiful colours and great pov. Your donkeys sound so funny - almost human! You've shattered my illusion that we were going to have a long, hot summer :(
I think I like your stories as much as the pictures you post! And, I love the pictures so that tells you how much I treasure your stories.
Yes, farming is full of little tedious chores that end up being small adventures. I call farming crisis management!
Fav! Love the picture! And love your story too.... specially the part when you turn up on the wrong day of the show....; now I know am not the only one ! Lol! :)
This a beautiful shot, I love the colours/patterns/details. I was disappointed by the ending of the fall too - I assume it is left 'open' for another series - at least that's what I'm hoping so that they can make a better job of ending it!
Beautiful shot! Is that the long term forecast again? I'm going to cry... So far it's been worse than last year - constant cool wind and about to rain for a week. I suppose if we have low expectations... How do you move a gulf stream? Adam off at somebody else's house again tonight but not till he's finished his first waitering shift.
Impatient donks and stunning iris.
An unusual mix, but delightful. I've never seen an iris from this perspective. Such interesting colors and patterns.

Hate it when one gets the wrong dates!
