Thought I should go out and take an actual photo today rather than posting another filler. I like the way that the early morning sunlight was catching Cashew from behind with Jack grazing in the background.
While I was feeding the pigs this morning I had to go in with Elsie rather than just pouring her food in from outside the run because a food bag had blown into her run and I was worried that she might eat it. I have to confess, I usually try to avoid going in with them because I end up covered in muddy nose prints. While I was there I bent down to give her tummy a stroke so she flopped down onto her side so I could carry on while she grunted contentedly. For a 25 stone monster she really is a softy. At one point she sat up like a dog while I stroked her behind her ears.
Bit of a dilemma tonight. Angus wants to go to the 'mop' (travelling street fair) in Stratford and so will need picking up but Graham and I are supposed to be going round to some friends' house for a pasty and a pint. I love the fact that he has got quite a good social life going on these days, but it does have its drawbacks.
Trying to resist the temptation to put the heating on at the moment. I am determined to be less of a wuss this year but can feel my resolve crumbling.
Off to finish Graham's tax return now..... guess what he does for a living....... yep, tax!
Great photo Jan and as ever love the dialogue. Just done my tax return and your husband is a lucky man for his wife to do this for him. Beyond the call if duty. Re Angus how about drop him of and arrange a local taxi to bring him home ! Bit dear but best of both worlds. Have a good weekend
@padlock@jewelsandbinoculars Oh yes he is definitely old enough, he travelled to and from London on his own in the summer when he was doing work experience. Trouble is, because we are in the middle of nowhere the last time we got a cab from Stratford (about eight years ago) it cost over £40. We have to pay the fare both ways because there is no chance of them getting a fare back into town. Quite a pricey pasty!
@jewelsandbinoculars I have to say that it is to some extent. I was brought up in a village with no transport and went to the grammar school some distance away, so my parents did a lot of driving and I spent a lot of time sleeping on floors. So I guess it's payback time. He very often stays with friends but for various reasons that is not possible tonight. Have been looking into trains from Stratford to Banbury, then a more reasonable taxi (£10) There is only one train an hour and it takes an hour to do the journey - ridiculous! He can do that if he wants, but at the moment he is getting the bus at 6pm. In fact he has just phoned me (that never happens) to say that a friend of his is about to cut his hair for him and do I have any advice. I said 'you will regret it.' I think he actually wanted me to forbid him from having it done so he didn't have to look like a wimp, but I didn't - aren't I mean? Guess we are off to the barbers tomorrow for some remedial work.
Definitely a mixed blessing living in the country, my daughter is on the road all the time but likes that better than not knowing where the little darlings are! One driving now so that has eased off....taxi sounds good to me....I do my bit too so rope in the Aged Parents as @jewelsandbinoculars says!! Sweet, sweet little beard!!
Lovely shot. I have a similar dilemma. I am out tomorrow night and Ellen wants to go to a party. She could stay at a friend's house but that would involve getting a taxi into Chester, a bus out to Wrexham and then another bus to Bangor on Dee - and I don't like the idea of two 16 year old gir's doing that at that time of night.
@steampowered Thanks Paul. I did respond to this earlier but my answer seems to have disappeared ( that keeps happening to me at the moment ). Those danglers don't do a thing.
I love this. Great lighting and composition. I have to admit that I've got quite slack about Adam staying with friends after parties. Nigel says he was never allowed as he could have been up to anything - but I'm not up to all that staying up. He did get abandoned by a friend who'd just been dumped by a long term girlfriend, got very drunk and was taken home by an U 6th the other week though. H
Another friend's mum dropped him off at the drunk friend - luckily the door wasn't locked - so he kipped down in the lounge, got up just in time to run 2 miles to the bus stop and sneak into school wearing the remnants of a fairy outfit, rescue school clothes from his locker and appear fresh as a daisy for Open Morning!
I do love this shot, and tg I am a bit past with the dilemma of Patrick staying out or staying overnight. we did have rules that he had adhere to, like keep in touch by phone no matter what, if the phone was turned off and I could not get in touch with him he was severely grounded and always always had to keep emergency money just in case. we trust him 100% but sometimes things happen they cant control.parenthood ah!!
