Fathers' day, so we had a day out at Formby. It's a National Trust area with a red squirrel sanctuary and woodlands that go down to sand dunes and a lovely beach. We all had a great time - the young ones played on the beach and we (the ancients) went red squirrel spotting in the woods. And then we all surprised each other by turning up at the ice cream van in the car park at the same time.
Just then a fire engine swept into the car park. The men gave us a friendly wave and whilst two of them went off to the beach to ask people not to light barbecues, the chief offered to show the children inside the cab. The five year old was a bit nervous and made his daddy climb up with him, while the two year old was more interested in his ice cream. However, everyone was fascinated by the helmet - when the visor came down it was a perfect mirror!
Sounds like a great day. Fun selfies and reflection - not every day you get to use a fireman's helmet for this type of shot!
