Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple by jaybutterfield

Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple

Singapore Day 9: We were on the temple circuit today.

Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple is the most famous Hindu temple in Singapore and features a 15-meter high statue of a seated Buddha, which weighs nearly 300 tons, as well as many smaller Buddha images and murals depicting the life of Shakyamuni Buddha.

An odd way to celebrate our American Independence Day but the free exercise of religion -- Buddhist, Muslim, Christian, Taoist, and others -- seems to thrive here. Places of worship are often one or two blocks apart and worshipers walk past other religious sites to reach their own temple, church, or mosque.
This seems to a beautiful tribute to freedom and that is the 4th.
