Early Tuesday morning, going down PCH, it felt like I was driving through a chimney. The smoke and ash from the fires to the north of us combined with the offshore Santana Winds (or as some call them Santa Ana winds) off the desert flooded Santa Monica Bay from Malibu to Playa Vista with a dense red haze. The above picture is SOOC -- this is really what it looked like. Unfortunately, new fires in Sepulveda canyon combined with high winds and low humidity portend that this December will not be pleasant.
