Sant Jordi

A day to give or receive roses or books. The streets are full of people and full of life with the streets marketers of books and flowers.
Beautiful colours in this and I really like how your focus is on the girl, gives a feeling of depth to the image. Fav

sounds like a good day - what kind of tradition is that?

@cazla Thank you. You catched the idea :D ... A beauty surrounded by "little beauties" ;)

@axika Thank you... is a Catalan holiday held on 23 April. Basically it is an exchange of gifts between sweethearts, loved ones and colleagues. "A rose for love and a book forever." In modern times, the mutual exchange of books is also customary. Roses have been associated with this day since medieval times, but the giving of books is a more recent tradition originating in 1923, when a bookseller started to promote the holiday as a way to commemorate the nearly simultaneous deaths of Miguel Cervantes and William Shakespeare on 23 April 1616. ;)

@jborrases Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! Lovely tradition! The roses part sounds a bit like Valentine's day... Sounds really nice to have a day when a book is the present you get! Did you get a nice book?
