The "Caganer" by jborrases

The "Caganer"

The "caganer" ( or "the man relieving themselves" ) is a sometimes controverted figurine appearing in nativity scenes in Catalonia and neighbouring areas with Catalan culture such as Andorra, Valencia and southern France. These nativity scenes include a farm or masia ( tipical catalonian farm building ), the annunciation angel and shepherds, the washerwoman, the star pointing to the newborn, the magic kings, and many more. You can find him in a lot of finishes, from the traditional catalan farmer, to celebrities, politicians, movie stars etc... Feel free to read more about this tradition on this link on wikipedia. And I apologize in advance if this figurine offend any of you in some manner.
Haha, as long as you shot from the front, I see the backside from Wikipedia, that is so funny. I wonder If there is Jose Carreras in the collection.

That is an odd addition to a nativity scene. I did have a look at the link and read of the reasons. I like the idea of the royals and politicians and sports people being portrayed with their pants down......Hahaha! Thanks for sharing this unique bit of your culture :-)

@yaorenliu thank you very much. I didn't noticed that but probably you will find one from Carreras or Caballé. I stay aware next time ;)
@teodw thank you very much for understanding. I minded about how this will be seen/ understand by people from other countries, specially those who are distant :)

@boxplayer thank you very much. I'm glad to here that. Maybe tomorrow or in next days I'll add another christmas tradition :)

I am so glad you posted these, they are great, and it is always so much fun learning about the traditions from other countries, and as a huge F1 fan I am sure you know which ones made me smile the most.

Very nice and a beautiful tradition. Many people in Malta, set up a crib in their houses - they can be of different sizes, some as big as a room, others, like mine, small. The figurines reflect the scene of Bethlehem, such as shepherds and farmers.

You know you think you have heard it all and then you join 365 and find there is so little you know about. I can't wait to share this little fact with the people I work with.
