A local proverb says: "hunger makes us smarter." Over the years of recession and unemployment, these small streets have become home to small businesses, created by entrepreneurs forced by unemployment and with the need of going forward, revitalizing the neighborhood and giving it a special touch.

I had no idea that's what fueled the lively businesses of the streets here, and that probably explains why some stores were even open late into the night. I like how you photo captures the narrowness and charm of these small streets, complete with holiday decor.
