I did a model shoot today. My father-in-law is having a garage sale this weekend, and he has 18 porcelain dolls which he purchased over the years for the intention of giving to his granddaughters. The granddaughters did not have interest in any of the dolls, so it is up to me to photograph them and put ads for them on Craigslist. The other images were done full length so you could see the whole doll, but this one's face caught my interest and I shot it more like a portrait.
It was cloudy outside when I did the shots, so I had some nice, even lighting. I placed a piece of white foam-core board behind the dolls on the front steps of the house, an had the wall of the garage ( a pale yellow) on the left side as a bit of a fill light.
Then in Photoshop I removed some of the yellow color from that fill light, added a bit of contrast and then painted in a black border.
