Product Shots - Ball Head

I spent class time yesterday explaining lighting for products and how it is different than the dramatic side lighting used for portraits and other images. We discussed light tents, and then showed the students how to make their own.

Today it was time to put the light tents (cardboard boxes with thin white fabric covering large holes in the sides) to use.

This was my proof to the students that an iPhone can be used to make a decent product catalog shot if you use an app that allows you to set your white balance to tungsten and adjust your exposure up from the default.

It is an old Manfrotto ball head from a tripod that has a broken leg clamp and a spare hexagon camera mounting plate.
