tracks

They will soon disappear - overlain by other tracks, covered by fresh snow, gone with the wind... At the end the sun melting the snow...
What are the traces I leave behind in the world... in the other, in the heart... are they permanent? Are they good, beautiful...?

Photo taken on a snowshoe tour on the mountain Krippenstein (Upper Austria).
Whose tracks do you suppose?

Wonderful words to ponder, we are stewards of this and all so we should pay attention to what we do. Love the gentleness and just a touch of sun flare.

Wonderful shot, gives such a sense of the vastness of nature. Extraordinary tracks, what made them?

simply powerful

Brilliant simplicity.

Fascinated by the regular pattern of the marks here. Ones that will be more readily erased than most that we leave in life as you so thoughtfully and eloquently draw our attention to. It's a sobering thought and one that should direct us daily. The capture is, of course, captivating with that sunburst at the end of the crisp clean trail.

Superb textures in the snow.. loving the tracks/pattern leading the eye through the frame, accentuating the undulations as it does.
All things have a beginning and an ending, we need to enjoy both with plenty of love/laughter between.
January 21st, 2017
You've done it again. I really enjoy your editing. Beautiful shot.

I do not know who made these tracks in the snow.
January 21st, 2017
@tskipper Your g-grandfather has migrated from Austria-Hungary to the USA ... this is really interesting! Do you know which city he's coming from? And you live in Florida?

@golftragic :) I love mysteries...
January 22nd, 2017
@jerome Me too.
January 22nd, 2017
@jerome Yes, it was in the early 1900's. So, it's been awhile. He always said that he was from Austria-Hungary. We found that he was born in Nagy Zalacska.
January 22nd, 2017
fascinating tracks. Did you follow them to the end? Very thought provokig words too
January 22nd, 2017
@tskipper A very interesting family history. On Google I found a place called Zalacska, which is located in today's Slovakia. It is interesting to follow the traces into the past. "Nagy" is, however, Hungarian. On Wikipedia I read that in 1910 there was a large Hungarian minority in this village.

@cruiser Thank you for your nice comment, Chris! I didn't follow these tracks. They led to a terrain that seemed to me too risky.
