Oh my, an incredible flower. I’ve never heard of coltsfoot!
April 10th, 2018
@carolscho Ich würde sagen, der Durchmesser der Blüte beträgt etwa 1 inch, die Wuchshöhe der ganzen Blume etwa 4 -12 inch.
Der Huflattich blüht nur im Frühjahr.

@domenicododaro Thanks, Domenico, for your kind comment!
I try to understand an object. I want to present as well as possible and to use the current circumstances (eg the light) in such a way that it works well. Sometimes a certain colour is offered, sometimes a b&w, sometimes more contrast, sometimes soft , sometimes hard transitions,... This approach is actually independent of the subject (whether landscape, architecture, nature, ...). There is inexhaustible much that is worthy of detailed consideration and immersion. As applicable: Every picture (at least in my opinion) needs an individual view. Otherwise it is only airy manner. If you want, you can call my approach "style". It always remains a trying, every picture is a new challenge. Sometimes the result is better, sometimes less convincing.

@jerome You are so completely true. But there is something even more subtle in "style", less explicable, perhaps: it is understanding a subject, considering it, immersing in it; individually looking at it. Certainly your own way. Not only your approach, but your own "eye". What musicians call "voice": personal, unmistakable. Something "necessary" if you sing or play a musical instrument; something that is much more an achievement in visual arts, especially those, like photography, implying the use of technology able to supply a standard, formally "perfect", output.
I feel the struggle trying to achieve my "voice" and am so admired of yours, that shows up brilliantly in each of your images, more or less "convincing" as you say!

@domenicododaro Thank you, Domenico, for your very empathetic and nice remarks. I agree with you - what the designer creates is always something individual, unique; carries his "thumbprint" - regardless of whether it is a novel, a piece of music, architecture, drama, painting, ... or photography. Any peculiarity blows through everything, makes it special. And yet, it does not become significant until it has something superindividual, something universal, all-encompassing. I think it's about a dialectical relationship between both - personal and interpersonal, me and society. This relationship must always be redefined and reflected. It seems to me that currently the egocentric predominates (in many fields) - which I do not think is good.
In my work, I try to apply some basics of design that I have acquired. I think it is good to study the great masters, to learn from them - about the substance of their work. But I remain a seeker. If I am no longer a seeker, then I stop, I am finished in a bad sense.
You could say a lot more about it ...

Beautiful uplifting shot.

@domenicododaro @jerome Thank you both very much for these insights into your respective creative processes. I do know what you mean, but am still trying to hone my eye and my own style/voice. I'm always very interested to hear and learn from what other, more accomplished photographers have to say.
