Sometimes I rummage in my travel photos and my memories come alive. In my mind's eye I see the places I visited. But I also think of the people I met. How they are doing...
Manuel was my guide for one day in Namibia. I hope he is fine...
It is fabulous when your memories come alive from the photographs and you can travel once again - even under these restrictions. Your artistry is exceptional Jerome.
@caterina Thank you for your lovely lines!
How I took the picture... The starting material was four photos:
- Manuel's face
- the tree in the savannah
- the giraffes
- the sky with the clouds
I stacked them one on top of the other in Photoshop. Depending on the requirement, I have made some parts transparent in order to achieve this flow of the individual images. I reduced the colours very much. For the colour for the sky I unashamedly reached into the paint pot.
@merrelyn You had planned a trip to Africa. Too bad that the circumstances prevented that. I very much hope that it will soon be possible to travel freely again. Which areas in Africa do you want to visit?
@jerome We had planned a 6 week trip through South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Tanzania and Kenya. I can't see it happening for at least another year. :(
A great trip through the continent! I am very happy for you if you can start this journey. I'm looking forward to your photos!
It is bad that it will not be possible for so long. Let us hope that we can get in touch with other cultures personally as soon as possible, directly and without barriers.
Awesome composite - well worthy of TT... but it should have been no. 1. Partly my fault because I didn't see it and Fav it until it was too late to count :-(
I'm a month late...and am humbled by this shot. It reminds me of Rebecca Chege, a fellow student when I was University. The journey that this shot portrays leaves me gasping with wonder...and thinking about Rebecca. Your gift is immense. Thank you ;-)
@s4sayer I am really honored by your extremely friendly visit. I am touched that this picture obviously caused meaningful memories for you.
With kind regards - also to your husband, whom I really appreciate.

But you know that.
Of course I'm happy about your regard - no matter when.
