Hole in...

If I don't tell you you'll probably never guess.
Still playing with the reversed lens on the Canon 600d, no choice really because I can't get the reversing ring off the camera!
This huge hole is actually the minute hole in a perfume nozzle.

You're right, I for one would never have guessed - the magnification is impressive!

@fbailey It's astonishing, isn't it? I suppose I'll just have to learn to really handle this ultra close up reversed lens unless someone can get the blasted ring off! I have a small ball head tripod which will prove invaluable, hand held is too hard for me.

Amazing, neat image

@susie1205 Thank you. I'm finding this VERY close close-up photography extremely difficult. I can't get the reversing ring off the camera so I can't attach the lens to change settings.

Great close up, the macro world is so interesting.

@joev Thanks, Joe. I absolutely agree, macro IS interesting and also can be very difficult to get right.

Isn't macro photography amazing?! I thoroughly enjoy using my macro lens...I always feel like I'm entering another world when I download/view macro shots I've taken on the computer, especially with insects. :-)

@gaylewood I've been a great fan of insect/macro photography since 7.30PM, August 15 2005, when I saw a picture of a leaf which Joy opened up to reveal the insect eggs. Game. Set. MATCH. I have a brilliant Olympus 60mm macro lens but playing with this reversed kit lens (18-55) on the borrowed Canon has taken macro to another dimension. I can't get this close with the Oly or with the macro zoom on the FZ1000. Next month I should be finding butterfly eggs to bring inside & raise. What wonders will Mr Canon uncover???
Thanks, Gayle.

I am also very interested in macro and have been experimenting with focus stacking etc. This technique has been spoken about at length but I have never tried it. Did you get a special ring to fit the reversed lens?
April 7th, 2018
@rookynook I have yet to really experiment with stacking, one thing at a time...this reversed thing is hard enough. I just asked my laptop to find me a reversing ring to fit camera/lens. It wasn't difficult to find and arrived very quickly. I then had to investigate keeping the f number I wanted, again, I asked my laptop. Because the Canon has a dof button near the lens release button, all I have to do is put the lens on the right way round, decide the f number and remove the lens holding down the dof button. Keeper rate for me is very low, need to perfect the technique before next month when I start to get butterfly eggs.
Good luck if you decide to try it
