The Brimstone caterpillar has a new skin which is wrinkled. As it eats it gradually fills the skin, unlike we humans who just get bigger and bigger. When the skin is "full" and wrinkle free it splits, is sloughed off and the process starts again. This happens several times and in the final moult the caterpillar pupates. But that's another story.
