Off with the old. If you look closely, you may see the tiny spikes or setae which are topped by a yellow liquid drop. In the picture of the larva in his new skin, those drops are white. I'm not yet sure what they are for, but fully expect to learn fairly soon and will edit this narrative accordingly.
