Invader

Some years, Painted Lady butterflies leave their sub-Sahara base for Britain and further north in huge numbers. I well remember 1996 when the irruption was so tremendous walking was difficult with butterflies on the ground and landing on people. I don't know if 2019 will be a similar year but reports from the east coast are promising. This one made several visits to my garden today, a very welcome invader and one which allowed further experimentation with my new toy (camera Panasonic TZ200).

They are sooo beautiful! As Anna said: from both sides. By now, we had only a few in the garden. I hope, some more will show up.
