Marvellous Mullein

What a handsome caterpillar, a first timer for me in a new site too. Won't visit the site alone again, neither will I take Tilly but I do hope to go soon.

@koalagardens It's a well grown larva of the Mullein moth. I think it will pupate fairly soon but I won't be around to see it sadly.

@fbailey I've never seen caterpillar or moth before in fact I think moth is a bit secretive but this is specatacular.

@gilbertwood This is my very first & I've only seen photos of them in this livery but it seems in early instars they are much darker so maybe you've encountered younger ones. This looks ready to pupate, he's so big.
