Up here in the villages there are no hotels. The school is the only place to stay, in your sleeping bag on the floor of a classroom, and of course, they charge companies to stay there. (Not school-related visitors.) Apparently the phone company didn't want to pay the school rates, so they brought their own lodging! Only in Alaska?!
Brilliant. I love your stories. We have a great tv programme on at the moment all about Alaska. I love it. After our brief visit there this year, I am hooked!
Ugh.....I look at all your photos and I just wanna BE there!!! If I'd known when I left that at this point I would not have gotten back, I would have stayed. :)
