I applaud your choice to use only one lens all summmer but I fear you will find your choice of focal length somewhat restricting. A 50mm on an APS-C sensor behaves as a short 80mm telephoto. You would find something in the 24-35mm range more versatile - 35-50mm in full-frame terms.
@vignouse This is self-imposed discipline, Richard. I've had a Tamron Auto Focus 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 on my camera for the past 2 years and I literally NEVER take it off. I'm not learning anything. I am a far cry from even understanding the techno-speak that your skill and experience shows! I haven't challenged myself at all - just "point and shoot" and I want to stretch tiny bit, so I decided to pack light and leave my inventory in Alaska. :-) So far, I'm having fun with the 50mm. I'll keep playing and hopefully learn a few basics. Thanks for your advice! I need all the help I can get!
I'll bet you pick up some new skills with this. I need to take my 50mm out and leave it where I can see it. Maybe that will encourage me. I'm so glad to see your post - you might not believe this, but just last week I was thinking about you and wondering if all was well. I've always enjoyed your posts.
