Well, I try not to be. Slip ups do happen. Unlike Paula’s cool and casual alleyway shot ( http://365project.org/pwallis/365/2011-05-14), this one was obviously premeditated. And it was inspired by a photo of Sean’s ( http://365project.org/slang/365/2011-05-11). Lacking a troll costume, I took my cat mask (use #3!) out to find a more cat-appropriate place to set up a selfie. The alleyway I had in mind had been tidied up to the point that it was no longer photo-worthy, but I was happy to find this graffiti wall to use instead (complete with chair!). It is along the side of a nightclub that is soon to be closed. The tag says Skratch Bastid; Skratch is a homegrown DJ, currently out making a name for himself in the world. People seeing me taking photos either ignored or smiled, and one man approached to chat. He was hoping to find some volunteer photography work for his daughter-in-law while she waited in work permit limbo. Would she like to volunteer to complete my 365project for me...? Those are my cycling clothes, not an attempt at a catwoman costume. Just so you know.

Holy freakin crap did I ever laugh when I saw this! You are killing me this is sooooooo funny! You are a brave soul as well. Out in public?! Ahahahahaha! Insta fav! Biggest laugh I've had in a while!
Hahahaha! I cannot tell you how much I love this shot! And for so many reasons. Awesome that the chair happened to be there as well. Fav for this sweet awesomeness.
ps - I wouldn't say my shot was all that cool and casual. I mean, I did have to set up the tripod, set the self-timer, and then run back to the doorway and quickly appear all nonchalant....lol. But thanks for the shout-out. You rock!
This is really cool and your own take on the two photos you referenced. Your story about the photo shoot amuses me. That's exactly why I'd be too nervous or embarrassed to go out and take cool shots like this because people would notice me. Eek! Glad you're braver than I.
Random, creepy and awesome all at the same time! The passersby didn't ignore...they saw you and quietly said wtf?....You were probably the talk at many dinner tables last night! Fav....
Janna this is so great! makes me want to go out and take weird selfies in public if i were more brave! the colour is awesome and I love the casual/normal position, just sitting reading a paper. that mask is so perfect!
I've been looking for inspirational and creative selfies and this just hits the nail on the head for me! Brilliant work. The angle, pose and colour complement each other perfectly.
