I'm Just Learning How To Use These Wings

There has been quite a saga at the falcon nest this year. Soon after the 4 eggs were laid way up high on a cliff edge, the father disappeared and another male moved in to help the mom. Finally they hatched about 6 weeks ago. Shortly after that, the mom disappeared. Since then the adoptive dad has been feeding them. There has been a 2 yo female hanging around. The 4 chicks fledged 1 1/2 weeks ago. Since then the 2 yo female has bee harrassing them. One of the females was found dead on the ground apparently having starved and another was taken to rapture rescue nearby. Now there are just two...this female and a weaker smaller male. The adoptive dad brought two birds in for them yesterday morning but the female managed to get them both. Here she took a little flight but seemed to have been so much heavier with her belly so full that she quickly came in for a screeching halt.

Faving the photo but would like to fav the text as well. Fascinating stuff a seems like very haphazard parenting- not like my friends' ospreys that sit with their wings open shading their young all day.

Oh gosh, I feel like I walked in the middle of a soap opera. The characters are out of Game of Thrones or something only they are birds! An amazing narrative to read to go with quite a fantastic shot. I tried to take a heron today and am even more appreciative of what it takes to get a shot like this. WOW. FAV of course!

Wow, what a great action caption of this majestic raptor! You have caught the raised/spread wings perfectly (probably one of a burst series of images?). What a great opportunity!
