I was inspired by Taffy's focus stacking of a moving water scene to try it when I went to Sweet Creek Falls a couple of days ago even though it didn't make sense to me that the water would work. It didn't so I hand blended the five shots with sharp focus moving progressively front to back and simply chose the water that I liked the best from the 5 to put in the blended shot- masking out the water from the other shots. I think the reason hers worked was that her stream primarily had two separate pools of water and this one had water running through several of the focus points. I had a wonderful day shooting with a friend here after three days of good rain filled the creek and its many falls.
Thanks much for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
A beautiful image Jane. Well done on your editing as I can imagine the water was a problem with focus stacking. Lovely clarity at the front and back of the image.
This really worked well as Rosie said, with the leaves and all the area surrounding the water. Interesting to see what you had to do as in my water one, I just focused on different points in the water and it did work. Also did it with a waterfall. I think it also may be you have a sharper eye for the details in the water and you can be more effective than the auto!
