I have no idea how I got so lucky with my husband! Since we live facing West and there is a big hill/ small mountain on the East, finding a spot to see and shoot sunrise is hard. I've noticed that the Waite Ranch, where I volunteer as a monthly bird counter, has a direct East view up this channel right outside its fence. I got permission for Jim to weed eat the invasive Himalayan blackberry vines that cluttered the foreground and he did it for me day before yesterday. I was up and out early yesterday despite it looking s if it would be a disappointing sunrise. It is such a beautiful spot that even though there were few clouds and lots of fog, I hung out there to see if there would be delayed color and there was. Thank you Jim!!!!
And thanks to all of you for your wonderful response to yesterday's shot and for your visits, comments, critiques, favs
This is absolutely gorgeous - thanks to you for the shot and to your wonderful husband for the weed eating. Your pov is terrific leading out and the colors really listened to you - they're lovely! Fav
Well worth the effort. Beautiful, I have lived at my current house 8 years and have yet to find a sunrise I would like to photograph. Does not mean I am going to quit looking. :)
Talk about dramatic! Those clouds seem to be roaring in, with that great curvy reflection contrasting to the silky smooth ones to the right. This version emphasizes sky and reflection, which I like, but what would it look like if you raised shadows just a bit? It looks like the land area is interesting.
Well worth your wait, Jane...this is beautiful! Your husband sounds like a gem. Love your composition with the water leading straight to that dramatic sky!
@taffy Thanks for the suggestion. I took bracketed images and tried HDR as well as trying this one with shadows lifted more but it didn't look realistic to my eye
