Wood Duck Has Something to Say

A friend and I went shooting birds at Delta Pond in Eugene a couple of days ago. I've always wanted to photograph wood ducks and I finally got to. I love his colors, proud stance, and open beak.
Thanks so much for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs. I'm glad you liked my milky way shot.
Such a pretty little duck!! Lovely shot with reflection!! Fav!

This is lovely, a fav for me. Wood ducks are not common around here, but we usually have one pair (and, in due course, babies) in High Park each year (that is Toronto's largest park and it includes a big pond). I always think the male wood duck looks hand painted.

What a fancy duck! We get Mandarin ducks which are a delight but this guy is very striking

That head shape is quite quirkey! I love it's black and white mohawk and back kick!

A real beauty - love the markings and that open beak.

This is a strong composition -- it works well to have such a colorful and oddly marked bird reflected in ripples instead of super mirrored look.

What a fabulous plumage he is wearing. Wonderful captured, and thanks for sharing. As we have no wood ducks here.
