Best on black. This is the mate of the egret I posted yesterday on the dunes. He/she sure has a big torn spot on the wing. I wonder how badly that impacts his aerodynamics. I love this time of year when they have the additional area of bright yellow in front of their eyes.

Great multiple meanings in flying off (for a week) and just a beautiful bird portrait. Poor thing -- I wonder if it was from an encounter or from hitting something (like a tree branch) on its own.
