Just got back from the Emergency Room. Yesterday afternoon I fell HARD on my patella on a rock and my knee is now two times normal size. Ouch. Won’t be hiking for a while nor getting upstairs to my computer.
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
Oh Jane - my sympathy is with you. I did the same a few years ago and shattered my patella into 4 pieces so I'm very pleased to hear that yours is still in one piece. Lots of spoiling, sudoka, puzzles and the odd wine needed! Look after yourself - we hope to see you up and about soon. :)
@jgpittenger An operation where they drilled holes in each piece and then wired them back together - about 3 months in plaster and then about 12 months of physio and exercises. It's pretty good now - still able to do pretty much anything I did before and it had the added bonus of instilling a 30 min regime of exercises and stretches into each day -so I'm now 8kg lighter than when I retired 8 years ago. The old silver lining in action! All in all though - thank goodness yours is still intact and I hope the swelling and pain subside quickly. :)
Oh Jane, I'm so sorry to hear about this disaster that's befallen you. You're such an active woman, the injury must be very painful, it's no fun being trussed up like that as well. Added to which it must be very frustrating not to be able to do the things you love doing. Sending virtual hugs, lots of.
Oh no, and I thought I was having a tough time with this blasted cold, or whatever it is. Hope all gets better real soon and you get back out on the trail.
Ouch Jane! So sorry to hear about your fall and injury! I have fallen a few times myself and cannot decide which body part is worse to injure. Probably the fall on my face...broken nose, black eyes, stitches to face under my lower lip, road rash to chin and concussion. Protect head at all cost, second your knees! I broke my foot in a fall once too! I hope you feel better very soon!!!
So sorry! I’m feeling your pain. I fell on my knee on a hike overseas last month, hit a huge rock and limped through the rest of my trip. Still hurts. Hope you heal quickly.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
