Best on black. I'm continuing to go through some of my archives from years ago practicing new editing techniques. I definitely faffed a bunch here. This was taken at Apgar Lake in Glacier NP at dawn after a night in a tent getting drenched by a heavy rain storm! It was a great trip though.
Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
I was just about to write about it needing to be a bit lighter and realized my computer brightness was lowered. It's absolutely perfect! Composition, line out to the boat and then up the mountains, the contrasts, the tone -- everything. Would give it multiple favs!
I thought I recognized this! I have one very similar in B/W, large and on metal. This is not Apgar however, it is McDonald. You probably hiked to Apgar, a beautiful mountain setting - about 4 miles in and it is completely natural there, no boats - although they do allow fishing! Loved seeing this wonderful shot!
@365karly1 that makes sense. Thanks. I have a colored version of this shot taken about 15 minutes later when the color had come into the sky printed on metal hanging on my wall!
@jgpittenger That's so great that you have this hanging on your wall. I also misspoke. The lake I was thinking of is "Avalanche" not "Apgar." Also I google Apgar lake to see if there is one in or near Glacier. There is not BUT Google has one set of pictures that are mistakenly labeled Apgar Lake - so it's no wonder that there is confusion. Just can't always trust Google:)
@365karly1 lol! I’m glad for the clarification. One of my sons and his family joined up with Jim and me to camp at Glacier to celebrate my 70th birthday. What a treat it was. Fun to go back to my photos again 5 years later
