Best on black. I was trying an experiment shooting stars with a different lens...one with a wider aperture so I was hoping for less noise. No such luck but it was wonderful being out with a starry night. I feel so lucky to have so many places I can go and see no one...sheltering in place with a sweet twist. As one of my daughters says, feeling joy is a good immune booster and being out with the stars filling the dark sky for sure brings me joy.

You are lucky to have so many stars overhead. You must live away from the city. Here, even when the clouds don't come in at night, the city lights wash away most stars. I like your photo very much for the composition of the silhouette and the many shade of cobalt blue in the night sky.
Really stunning - you're sure a master of these. Besides letting us enjoy and pretend we're there, too, you must feel a lot of ease in today's tensions in a setting like this. I envy you.
Lovely expanse of night sky! Like the faint reflection, too. And yes, I am grateful, too, to be able to be outside some while 'sheltering in place'. After all, I am just a country girl.
Your wonderful photo makes us feel as if we are there with you - it truly is a beautiful, uplifting sight. What a magical place to be able to stay safe. :)
Amazing. I looked at the clock last night and thought I had 10 minutes to set up to see if I could capture the ISS going over ( 9:08PM PDT). All that panic and I walked outside to find the sky was clouded over, not a star to be seen, unlike the past four nights.
