Blue Heron Showing His Undercarriage

Hooray! We had a break in the constant rain and gray of the last week. The birds were fabulous on our hike this morning. You'll be seeing more in the days ahead. I had not realized how beautiful the color of the body of a blue heron is. Does anyone know if that is just because it is breeding season?
