I think this is a meadowhawk according to my dragonfly book. But I am a novice at identifying dragonflies so please advise if you know better. I shot it on a plant growing at the edge of our pond. I thought the bokeh were wonderful.

Lovely close up. It is quite difficult to recognize, especially since it may be some local variation. But I guess you recognized him well. Looks like a Sympetrum (meadowhawks). A precise determination as to the species is possible on the basis of the abdomen (whether there is a narrowing and what spots it has).
