I took this with my new 10 stop ND filter...my first try practically...and then I promptly dropped it (with my cold numbed fingers) on the cement and watched it shatter. Thankfully it was insured and a replacement has been ordered, but I was bummed because the clouds were perfect for a long exposure and that is the next photo contest theme for our camera club! This is SOCC except for crop and removal of some of the sensor dust spots. What a morning it was. It makes a person glad to get up and get out there with her camera.
I was so touched by your response to my shot of the foggy dawn at Woahink Lake. Thank you so much. And I am still mulling re how to adjust my 365 participation such that I'm not feeling pressured. It isn't about getting out there and shooting...that feels as if it feeds my soul. And I have learned so much from you all and have made wonderful friends...to be continued!
Wonderful shot, especially for a first attempt with a 10-stop filter. So sorry that it's shattered, at least it was insured, and I hope it's easy to get another one quickly!
So much to love in this shot, the muted colors, the reflections, the depth and breadth, and the sense of action in the clouds. Beautiful. Glad your filter was insured! I bought an ND 500 I haven't tried yet, but once again, you've inspired me.
Cold hands are such a challenge--I'm going to invest in some hand warmers to keep in my pocket . I think this will help in sunrise conditions...the sky is really nice in this one !
Fantastic clouds juxtaposed against the still water.
Ouch re the shattered filter - I hope the replacement doesn't take long to arrive. What did you get?
Jane, I bought a couple of hand warmers and have put them in my camera bag for cold mornings. They last a few hours and I'm hoping they'll help me retain my manual dexterity (such as it is ) for those cold morning shoots.
