Power Man Made and Natural by jgpittenger

Power Man Made and Natural

I'm still working through my shots from my photoshoot in Newport. We stopped at an osprey nest and watched quite the drama. Baby and mother were in the nest with the baby not yet fledged and mom with injured eye. After a while an interloping male came near the nest and dad chased him off. This is a shot of dad flying to the nest to protect his family. I thought the contrast between nature and man made power was powerful. Luckily the bird's turning ability is high! The nest is built on top of a nearby power pole.
nice catch!!

He seems to handle himself nicely. Check out those outstretched talons!

Exciting! WOW! Great "freeze" of his flight. I like the contrast also.....power of man - power of natural instinct; Compelling.

What a great wingspread he has - like the way you were able to get that focus - his talons are so clear. Must have been fun to watch the interaction.

This is quite a contrast, and your storytelling adds to the feel of the scene.

An incredible image and wonderful focus on the osprey.

Dad looks very purposeful - let's hope Mum's eye injury heals or she won't be able to hunt for herself.

He's beautiful in flight. And that power pole looks like something that would be very good to avoid. I hope the drama has a happy ending re Mum's eye...
