Osprey Spreading His Tail Feathers by jgpittenger

Osprey Spreading His Tail Feathers

We finally had a sunny day and I went back to see if I could capture more action at the osprey nest. There wasn't much going on. The female had just her head visible in the nest and there was one quick fly by by the male who then went and landed in a far away tree. This is severely cropped.

Such an impressive bird! Wonderful timing.

Looks really clear for the far off shot. The nest I'm looking at, I usually just see the mom's head sticking up from the nest. From what I've seen, this position usually seems to be the release of a bodily function. :-)

Good detail! I find birds to be a major challenge - they move so fast-
so I admire your skill, patience and great results.

@rickster549 he actually stayed there for quite a while and didn’t lighten his load...though I know what you are talking about
