Queen of the hill by joa

Queen of the hill

Obviously not taken by me, but it was my camera, my settings - I just had a photographer colleague of mine push the button.

It's so cool to have the possibility to take part in these little camera club photo walks. (This is the club where I'm a member, not the one I have for my students.) There are some serious pros in the group, as well as us amateurs. There are a few people who willingly haul lighting equipment up on a fortification hill at sunset and let everyone try them.

Cool stuff. Me like.
Very cool and that sky is to die forl! Tulee jotenkin mieleen tää: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1zkXdqcajk

@susale The sky has been enhanced a bit... ;) Shh, don't tell anyone! :D You know, Unia is my fave Sonata album and this is one of my fave songs on it! How cool that you connected the shot with this video!

@joa Se on toi tuuliasu & taivas :) Se on munkin lemppari siltä levyltä, ja yks koko tuotannon lemppareista kyllä. Ite tykkään vaan ekasta levystä eniten.

@kwind I find it pretty cool that a shot like this can be achieved with really simple lighting setup. If I had the gear, I'd be practicing stuff like this all the time. :D (And the sunset was a pretty one as well!)

Jealous! Wonderful shot - glorious sky. Our photo clubs around here are barely adventurous - wish I could find one that would work.

@kass I've been lucky with this club - it's not a very old club, so it still has quite a bit of adventurous plans. There have been two trips to the archipelago this summer, for example. (I was unable to attend, unfortunately.) Some of the other clubs I know in the area have old geezers as members and they just sit in their meetings and talk about shooting birds in Lapland or something like that. I'm quite happy with the activities this little club comes up with. And it's a nice bunch of people, too.
@lesip @tracelee @houdiniem Thanks so much, all! :)

@gailmmeek @shannejw Thanks ever so much, Gail and Shanne! :) The sunset was a pretty cool backdrop and I was quite surprised how that one little flash unit was able to create such a good atmosphere in the shot. Nifty! :)

Haa onpa makee, tulee mieleen joku fantasiajuttu... Miekka vaan ilmaan ja peltibikinit tuuliasun sijaan :)
September 5th, 2014
@janim Heh. Kyllä mä mietin, olisko pitänyt raahata mun viitta mukana - ja vähän keskiaikarelettä ja ehkä pitkäjousi. Peltibiksuja mulla ei oo, sori. :D Mut toi olis kyllä hyvä paikka & yksinkertainen kuvausjärjestely saada aikaan melkoisia fantsujuttuja. Tai vaikka aika pähee rokkiposeerauskuva. Kitara kainaloon miekan sijasta - ja jotkut nahkabyysat vaan kehiin. Heheheee!

fav! there is just something so powerful about this shot - and i love the fact that the lighting equipment is in it...

@northy Yeah, I thought it was a good choice to leave the flash in, as well. Sort of a "making of" shot. :)
