NYE in Helsinki

Old year, new camera gear.

Got a brand new Canon 6D and a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 in December. Woohoo!

Here, handheld, sunset, all that stuff. My man just outside the frame beside me. Perfect.

Yes, I've been silent, most likely will be in the future as well, but suddenly I got the urge to post something. :D

Posted about my Crop of 2014 in my blog. Just so you'll see I haven't been totally out of photography in 2014, even though I didn't have time or motivation for 365 anymore.

I'm still living "in interesting times", but things are beginning to settle down in the happiest possible way - from my point of view.

Have the best possible 2015, may it be what you need it to be.
Nice gear hey :) I have the same setup. Lovely shot.

Well that's just highly bizarre that I happened to click into my home page at the very moment you posted, since I only just back here this week and I'm seldom checking the feed. It's wonderful to see you. You're among the special people who were conspicuously absent upon my return.

Exciting new camera! Such a beautiful shot! Great composition and light.

@aliha You've liked the combo? How do you find the battery life of the 6D? I'm kinda surprised about how quickly it eats up batteries... My old 600D was worlds apart in this sense. But only in this sense. ;)
@anzere03 Thanks so much! :)
@mirepuolitaival On. Ja vielä kauniimpi entinen pääkaupunki. ;)
@squamloon I've been conspicuously absent from almost everywhere. Except maybe for FB and lately Instagram. :D For some reason it's been too much of a hassle to upload stuff to Flickr as well... Too much of everything going on, I suppose. But good to see you around, and good to hear you're back. :)
@kwind It is a nice step up from the entry level 600D. Although I do miss the swivel screen for the 6D... ;) But I didn't sell my old camera, keeping it as a back-up body for weddings etc. And stuff I need the swivel screen for. ;)

Beautiful! Love the light and tones in this shot.

@pflaume Thanks so much, Lisa! I was so happy about the clear skies for the sunset and the wet streets just screamed for me to take a few quick snaps. ;)

Lovely tones in this. Happy New Year. :)

@joa I have no problem with it, it lasts for weeks of intermittent shooting. I put a new battery in for a job of 1000+ frames and it lasts another week or more after that. Do you use live view? I know that chews the battery much more quickly (and maybe for videoing as well - I only use this very occasionally). I've also heard that the GPS and Wifi chew battery very quickly but I've never used them.

@humphreyhippo And to you, too! :)
@aliha Well, I certainly don't use the live view and the GPS & wifi are turned off. But for some reason the batteries seem to drain empty really quickly once there's one segment of the battery sign gone. Oh well, it could be the cold winter weather, too. As the batteries are Canon ones, not some accessory brand batteries. I will continue observing the situation - and on Saturday at the wedding shoot I'll keep a second battery constantly charging...

@joa True, the temperature could play a part. Only thing we get here is heat - our winters are very mild.

Um..How dare you sneak in and post this and I never noticed. lol. Hope you're doing well!
January 17th, 2015
@mej2011 Ah, so sorry for sneaking. :D Had a moment of "I feel like posting" - they pass so quickly these days... I'm doing well, in general, if one doesn't count the terrible flu (probably influenza or something) I've had for almost a month already. Blaaah! Keeps me from going out for wintery photowalks, which then makes me cranky as I've missed some spectacular photo opportunities... :D
