My mentor and I have been discussing blur. Our likes and dislikes. So I worked so hard to get well focused pictures and then I win get pushed for a blurred picture. Then I get another blur assignment. So I said I wanted to use a tutorial on Lens Baby but didn't always like the pictures I'd seen. So he directed me (as a good mentor will) to look at the pictures on the Lensbaby site. They were good so this is another attempt at creating a lensbaby look. This is my second and last attempt at my get=pushed challenge. Thanks Richard for helping me with this challenge.
I usually hate lensbaby pictures. The blur makes no sense to me and usually takes out a portion of the shot I'd like to see BUT this shot is blurred in all the right places and it makes sense. Great job!!
You get a Fav for this - not for the pseudo-Lensbaby effect which I don't much like here - but simply for the fact that this is a superb bird portrait. More like this please...
Fantastic blur photo! I like this very much, what a beautiful bird and great blur - emulates a very shallow dof but you have the detail throughout the bird. Cool!
Those little birds are so cute love his round eye being so watchful...The blur on the feeder is a nice touch and the photo doesn't lose any of it's beauty...
I'm with Ann, I have never seen a lensbaby shot I like. I don't mind the blur on the feeder, but the slight blur on the beak I don't like as much. Sorry.
Oh what a tweet shot!!! Love the softness of the focus and that looks like a little pearl in his mouth. I am sure he is so grateful to you during these cold days. Love this shot Joan!
@joansmor Yes- very tastefully done and done well. Both yours and his have a single subject set against a plain background- and I think that's why they're good and why they work. The ones I've referred to are often of more than one subject (or a subject with multiple parts like a crowd of people) and a busy background. The blur makes no sense and actually fights with the subject. Sometimes it even makes my eyes hurt!
If you're quitting the "Blur Challenge" you've done so while at the apex of your blur-career! What a gorgeous photo! The best of all your photo skills!
